The Mathews High School indoor track team traveled to Roanoke College this weekend to compete in the VHSL 1A/2A State Championship meet.
On Friday, Melody Smith, Caroline Bray, Sarah Taylor and Zoe Goodwin competed in the 4x800m relay with a time of 12:57 placing fifth in their heat and 10th overall in the state.
On Saturday, Sarah Taylor leaped 4’8” in high jump placing 12th in the state. Cameron Stearns ran the 3200m with a time of 11:23 placing 16th in the state.
The boys’ and girls’ teams look forward to outdoor season with the first meet on March 19 beginning at 4 p.m. at King William High School.
