Twelve athletes and two contributors were added to the Mathews High School Hall of Fame in a program held on Friday evening at the school’s Harry M. Ward Auditorium. The MHS Hall of Fame was initiated in 2019 and, with the 14 new members, its ranks grew to 114. This year’s inductees included, from left, James Krigsvold, John “Junie” Dixon, George “Bubbie” Forrest, the late Terri Johnson (the plaque was accepted by her cousin, Jacqueline Linares), Jonathan Pierce, Patrick Sopko, Jamie van Emmerik, Kate van Emmerik Murray, Taylor Williams Ullom, Russell Reed, William “Willie” Love, Nathaniel Abram, Ricky Hudgins, and (not pictured) Bryan Taylor. Al DeWitt, who organizes the MHS Hall of Fame, indicated that he may switch to a fall induction ceremony for new members.
