MHS girls shut out Chargers, 4-0

The Mathews High School varsity softball team shut out Middlesex 4-0 Tuesday night to sweep the series against the Chargers.

Tuesday’s game was a special one for Andie Schlosshan, who was the only Lady Devil to walk for Senior Night.

Justice Parlett was in the circle all seven innings for the Lady Devils. Parlett gave up no walks while striking out eight, which was her career high.

The defense allowed two hits, which came from two defensive miscues. Offensively, the Devils batted .240 as a team. Victoria Bing went 2-for-3 with two singles and two RBI. Hannah Robins, Caroline Crittenden, Schlosshan and Shayla Wheeler each added a single. Shayla Wheeler and Kelsey Ryan each added RBI.

With the win, the Devils improved their record to 5-11. They will play at West Point today in the continuation of a game from last week. ...
