MHS girls face Pointers in playoffs tonight

Now that the regular season is over, the Mathews High School varsity girls’ basketball team heads into post-season play tonight as the third seed in the Conference 42 tournament.

Mathews was scheduled to end the regular season last Wednesday night at King William. However, that game was cancelled because of inclement weather and was not rescheduled.

In tonight’s semifinal, Mathews travels to West Point to face the #2 seed Pointers in a 6 o’clock contest. The teams split their regular-season games.

On the other side of the bracket, the top-seeded Charles City Panthers will host the #4 seed Middlesex Lady Chargers at the same time as the Mathews-West Point game. The winners of each semifinal will face each other at Charles City at 6 p.m. Saturday in the championship game. The winners of the semifinal games will also advance to regional play on Tuesday night.
