MHS football players win All-Conference/District honors

The Mathews High School varsity football team had a number of players earn All-Conference and All-District honors. This season, the team posted a 4-6 record, improving from the previous year’s 2-8 mark.

Josh Foster earned first-team All-Conference linebacker, second-team running back and was runner-up as Conference 42 Defensive Player of the Year.

Stuart Anderson Jr. was named first-team All-Conference defensive back, and second team all-purpose player on offense. Also making first team were Colton Greene (offensive line) and Elijah Willis (wide receiver). Second-team picks included Hunter Scales (defensive tackle), Drew Hudgins (outside linebacker), Jason Moughon (outside linebacker) and Tim White (defensive back).

Thurman Hudgins (quarterback), Ricky Bristow (offensive line), Mason Fiscella (offensive line/defensive end) and Hunter Wright (defensive back) received honorable mentions.
