MHS crew competes at Stotesbury Regatta

The Mathews High School crew traveled to Philadelphia last weekend to compete in the 91st annual Stotesbury Regatta on the Schuylkill River. MHS entered three boats for the women—the women’s junior double, senior single and senior four, and one entry for the men—the junior four.

The men’s junior four was the only Mathews boat to make it all the way to the championship race, fighting its way through a 57-boat field. Sebastian Knebl, Fletcher Rich, Zach Cummings, Landon Hudgins and coxswain Aileigh Daniels scored the second fastest time in the semifinals, then finished in sixth place in the finals.

Olivia Wood and Mandy Moran were first to race Friday in the women’s junior double. The two novice rowers placed 16th out of 27 entries, but were not in the top 12 required to advance to the semifinals.
