The Mathews High School track team took numerous first-place wins at the VHSL Group 1A Region A Championships at West Point on Tuesday.

Melody Smith took first place in the girls’ 3200m dash with a time of 16:02.10. Sarah Taylor came in first in the girls’ 100m hurdles with a time of 18.06, followed by Victoria Palaimo (22.75).

Taylor also came in first place in the girls’ 300m hurdles with a time of 53.85, followed by Palaimo (1:10.65). Taylor took first in the girls’ high jump with a 5-00.00, followed by Palaimo (4-06.00).

Nasir Thomas came in first for the boys’ 400m dash with a time of 54.20. Landon Green took first place in the boys’ 1600m dash with a time of 5:06.86, followed by Andrew Greve (5:49.88).

Cameron Stearns came in first place for the boys’ 3200m dash with a time of 11:09.88, followed by Grayson Camp (12:56.75).
