MHS cheerleaders seek help to attend New Year’s parade in London

Two Mathews High School cheerleaders have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity—a trip to participate in London’s New Year’s Parade and Festival—and they are seeking a little financial help to make it happen.

Junior Lauren Bland and senior Philomena West earned the right to go to London as a result of their performances at this past summer’s UCA Cheer Camp at Old Dominion University, where both earned All-American status.

Both of the cheerleaders have launched GoFundMe campaigns to raise the money through the crowdfunding website—Lauren’s page can be found at www.gofundme.com/2hz9zcc and Philomena’s is at www.gofundme.com/ez803c. Both pages can also be found by going to the main page and searching under Mathews, Virginia.
