The Mathews High School varsity boys’ basketball team picked up a lopsided victory at home on Tuesday, easily defeating Tidewater District foe King and Queen by a 73-39 margin.
The Blue Devils now have a couple important games coming up this week, against the Carver College and Career Academy and Gloucester High School.
Tonight, Mathews will travel to Chesterfield County to face off against the Carver Wolverines in a game that will decide the district championship. But for many, the big game will be on Monday night.
Devils v. Dukes
The MHS boys’ team will end its regular season on Monday with what promises to be a big game, at least as far as local bragging rights are concerned, when the Gloucester Dukes come to Mathews for a JV/varsity showdown.
The MHS Athletic Department will honor family passes/punch cards/business passes, VHSL, Region and AD passes only. There will be no free admission for senior citizens, students or school employees for this game.
