MHS booters defeat Lancaster, 6-1

The Mathews High School varsity soccer team finished the regular season last Wednesday with a 6-1 win over the visiting Lancaster Red Devils. Mathews was scheduled to host Middlesex yesterday in the opening round of the Conference 42 tournament.
Against Lancaster, Mathews recovered from an early Red Devil goal to score six of their own in what many said was the best the Blue Devils had played all season.
Lancaster opened the scoring within the first 30 seconds of the game. MHS goalie Zack Foss then shut out the Northern Neck visitors for the rest of the contest. Kevin Jenkins scored to even the game, 1-1. Strong defensive playing, that included Reagan Jackson and Ricky Rutter, combined with good teamwork soon led to a second goal by Adam Wade.
