Meyer seeks Abingdon District seat on BOS

John C. Meyer Jr. has announced his candidacy for the Abingdon District seat on the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors. A former member of the county board, he currently serves on the Gloucester Planning Commission, Local Emergency Planning Commission and Board of Directors for Hampton Roads Workforce Council.

A retired USAF Colonel, Meyer served 24 years in the military, seeing combat in Iraq and Bosnia. He is also a senior partner for SynEnergy Inc, a small management consulting firm based in Gloucester and former vice president for Whitney, Bradley & Brown Inc., a defense consulting firm based in Reston.

Meyer said he grew up in a military family, which saw him move around often as a child. He and his wife of 45 years, Laurel, moved to Gloucester in 2005. He said he’s never lived somewhere as long as he has in Gloucester.
