A funeral for Meta Bond Mowry, 85, Gloucester Point, was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. She died Dec. 24, 2017. 

She was born Aug. 13, 1932 the last of 13 children to Thomas and Ella Pauline Bond in Portsmouth. She traveled the majority of 48 states with her husband, Howard, after his retirement.

Survivors include her husband, Howard L. Mowry; sons, Howard James “Jimmy” Mowry, David Alan Mowry and Eric Leslie; sister, Edythe Carter; four grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The service was conducted by the Rev. Bud Goude. Interment followed in Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
