MES food drive

Mathews Elementary School participated in a food drive to benefit Hands Across Mathews and Mathews Social Services. Students, faculty and community members brought in canned and dry foods as part of the drive. Amy Shaw’s first grade class led the school in collecting the most canned goods. The school said that a big reason for this success was the work of student Graeme Williams, who said Williams felt very strongly about the food drive and researched childhood hunger with his mother. They put together a social media post and encouraged friends to help, which led to an overwhelming response.
