Miller wishes it known that he is again in business at his old stand on Church Street, where he would like to see his old friends and customers. He has a full supply of new groceries and a few dry goods such as stove pipe and wall paper. There will be a bazaar at “Mobile,” the home of Mr. Stephen H. Ice cream and cake. 110 YEARS AGOThursday, March 30, 1916from the Mathews Journal One of the most historic colonial houses in Virginia, “Rosewell,” situated on the York River in Gloucester, was destroyed by fire last Friday morning. “Rosewell” was built in 1727 and was occupied by Mrs. Nellie Dean Taylor, its present owner. With the house were destroyed many priceless relics; only a few heirlooms being saved.
