Bacon Street Youth and Family Services has announced the inaugural Mental Health Matters Awareness Walk will be held on Saturday, May 10, at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, Gloucester.
This community event, presented by Riverside Health, aims to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and fund critical mental health and substance use programs. Money raised will provide services to all of Riverside’s service areas including Williamsburg, Gloucester and Newport News.
The one-mile walk is open to individuals of all ages and fitness levels, with registration priced at $20 for participants aged 11 and over. Children 10 and under can join for free. Those who register by April 1 will receive a commemorative T-shirt. In addition to the walk, attendees can enjoy complimentary snacks and beverages to stay energized and community resource tables.
“By participating, you’re helping to raise vital funds for mental health services,” says Tiffany Phillips, event coordinator. “Together, we can foster a community where mental health is prioritized and celebrated.”
The event also features exciting team awards for Most Team Members, Best Dressed Team, and Top Fundraising Team. Organizations and individuals can get involved by registering, donating, or volunteering.
