Menhaden management meeting to be held in Fredericksburg

An informal working group on menhaden management in Virginia, co-chaired by State Sens. Ralph S. Northam (D-Norfolk) and Richard H. Stuart (R-Westmoreland), will meet at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23,in Lee Hall at the University of Mary Washington, Fredericksburg. The meeting is open to the public.

According to a press release from Northam’s office, the panel will hear presentations by the Virginia Institute of Marine Science’s Dr. Rob Latour, chair of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission Menhaden Technical Committee, and from Bill Goldsborough, a senior scientist with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The group heard from fisheries managers with ASMFC and the Virginia Marine Resources Commission at its first meeting in July.
