Memorial Day speaker: Instilling values in the next generation

“What is important is that the values that have held our country together are instilled in each and every one of us so that when our time comes, there will be a generation that understands the values of America and the sacrifices it takes to defend its freedoms.” That was the message that Gloucester High School senior Cooper White imparted to the full house in attendance at Sunday afternoon’s Memorial Day ceremony, which was held at Gloucester American Legion Post 75. White, who served as cadet commander for the Gloucester High School’s NJROTC program for the past year, was the featured speaker at the annual event, which had been originally scheduled to be held on the steps of Gloucester courthouse in front of the Veterans Memorial Wall; however, concerns over impending bad weather forced Legionnaires to change the location.
