Memorial Day ceremonies Sunday locally

This weekend, Gloucester and Mathews will join the rest of America in honoring members of the Armed Forces killed in action.

American Legion Post 75 of Gloucester and Post 83 of Mathews will both hold Memorial Day programs on Sunday, with the Mathews service beginning at 2 p.m. and Gloucester following suit an hour later.
Mathews Post 83 will conduct its program at the Post Home on Route 198 in Hudgins and is welcoming noted military historian John Quarstein as its guest speaker.

Following the program, the post will honor those who have died with a Bell Ceremony, an honor guard salute, and the playing of Taps. Gravesite flags will also be available for placement. Afterwards there will be a reception with light refreshments. Call 804-725-7422 for more information.
