Memorial Day

Knights of Columbus Council 11210 will hold its Memorial Day service at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 29, at the cemetery of The Church of the Visitation, Topping.

Thirty-one U.S. military veterans are buried in the cemetery at the Roman Catholic church, a release said. The ceremony will start with a procession led by a bagpiper and a prayer for the fallen veterans. American Legion Post 83, Mathews, will provide honors followed by the playing of “Taps.”

The ceremony is expected to last about 30 minutes and the public is invited to attend. Spectators may follow the procession or proceed to the cemetery prior to the ceremony. Those who have trouble walking may drive down earlier than the 9:30 start time.
