Two students with Adult Literacy on the Middle Peninsula, Inc., recently received their GED diplomas.
Program manager Rhodo-Jo Stress said Danielle Meiggs and Ronald Haywood, the two graduates, have been in the program for years. Meiggs attended each Saturday, missing just one session in five years, Stress said. Haywood was enrolled for three years.
Both students had great support from their families, Stress said, with such necessities as transportation, child care and encouragement. Meiggs passed all five tests on her first try and Haywood made a perfect score in reading on his first attempt.
Meiggs received her diploma in August and Haywood on Oct. 25.
Stress noted that students en route to GED should take their tests before the end of this year, as the format changes and the price increases in 2014.
