Meeting Tuesday to discuss Mathews Chamber of Commerce

A second meeting to discuss the possibility of reviving the Mathews County Chamber of Commerce will be held at 6 o’clock Tuesday at the Kingston Episcopal Church Parish House, 370 Main Street, Mathews.

Approximately a dozen people representing local businesses and organizations gathered at Mathews Memorial Library in August to begin the discussion.

The group talked about benefits such as chamber grants, improving businesses, training opportunities, networking, caring for community, advertising, and countywide business partnerships.

A consensus was established to explore possibilities of recreating a Mathews Chamber of Commerce or merging with an existing Chamber of Commerce in a neighboring county.  

The group committed to the following: 

—Poll interest of as many Mathews County’s businesses as possible; —Invite businesses to the next meeting via press releases, social media, radio, and door-to-door efforts, and
