A new site plan for Mathews County’s East River Boat Yard has been developed, and county officials will meet with interested residents to view and discuss the proposed plan at 2 o’clock today in the historic courthouse on Court Street.
With an estimated total cost of $406,914, the proposed plan, which was developed by VHB of Williamsburg, includes 530 linear feet of riprap revetment for shoreline stabilization, a 16-foot-wide by 63-foot-long boat ramp, and a 186-foot-long pier, the last 50 feet of which would widen out to 10 feet for fishing.
If the plan were fully developed, there would also be gravel parking for five vehicles with trailers and nine vehicles without trailers, a concrete handicap parking space, a waterside concrete sidewalk, and a platform for future restroom facilities. The plan also includes wetland plantings and landscaping, as well as demolition of existing concrete structures that would be in the way of the proposed revetment.
