Meeting to focus on Gloucester Point’s development plan

Information on the future planning of the Gloucester Point area will be the main focus of an upcoming community meeting hosted by Gloucester Point District Board of Supervisors member Bobby Crewe. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, in the Abingdon Elementary School cafetorium.

County planning staff will join Crewe to continue discussions and answer questions and concerns about the Gloucester Point planning project that is currently underway, according to county spokesperson Christi Lewis.

The Virginia General Assembly mandated that Gloucester County designate at least one Urban Development Area (UDA). Lewis said a UDA is defined as an area served by existing transportation infrastructure and public utilities that is selected by a locality for future higher density, mixed-use growth within a traditional neighborhood, pedestrian-friendly environment.
