A meeting for prospective Sea Scouts and their parents will be held from 3-5 p.m. Saturday at Gloucester High School.

The Mathews Maritime Foundation is sponsoring a Sea Scouts ship for the Middle Peninsula, said a press release, and leaders are looking for girls and boys who have a thirst for outdoor activities on the waters of Chesapeake Bay and the land along her shores.

Students from the ninth grade to under 21 years of age are encouraged to participate, said the release. The group also welcomes adult volunteers.

The U.S. Coast Guard and its auxiliaries are supporters of the group, said the release, as well as local adventure enterprises “and a great number of adults who think that Sea Scouts would add a traditional touch to our shared heritage.”
