The Mathews County School Board has named Charlie Koenig, editor of the Gazette-Journal, who has covered the board for many years, to the Media Honor Roll maintained by the Virginia School Board Association. The board’s resolution cites his “exemplary nature of reporting on this community’s public schools.” Presenting the honor to Koenig, left, at its Aug. 17 meeting is board chair Linda Hodges.
