McGee paces GHS runners over Kecoughtan

Freshman Megan McGee led the Gloucester High School varsity girls in their cross country meet with Kecoughtan last week and in the Maymont XC Festival 5K race Saturday in Richmond. 

McGee paced the team to a 15-49 win over the Warriors on Sept. 24 at Gosnold’s Hope Park and set a new personal record of 22:01. 

Gloucester swept the top seven places, with McGee followed by Maddy Hogge, Lauren Hill, Mackenzie Marbain, Erin Bristow, Mia Robinson and Alissa Adickes in that order. All of these girls also set new personal records for the season.  

Chasity Lass led the GHS junior varsity girls at eighth overall in 24:04, another personal record. Kaylyn Berg, Samantha Sigmon and Brooke Cheatham placed second through fourth, respectively, for the JV Dukes. 

The Gloucester varsity boys came up short, 23-32, against Kecoughtan. Chase Holland was fourth overall in 18:19, followed by teammates Jacob Durren at seventh, David Sadikova at eighth, Andrew Wible at 10th, Alex...
