MCF awards more than $158,000 in 2019 grants

The Mathews Community Foundation celebrated its 20th year at a May 23 reception at Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, announcing that 42 grants totaling $158,861 will be awarded to nonprofits and programs benefitting Mathews County residents in 2019.
The grants are focused in four areas: economic prosperity, educational success, health and wellness, and community vibrancy. The ceremony was especially meaningful to Mathews County residents who served on the original board in 1999, when a $10,000 donation for a scholarship program started the foundation’s work.
