Following the June 4 graduation at Mathews High School, Chris Bridge, chair of the Mathews County Democratic Committee, presented graduate Tatianna Braxton with a $1,000 scholarship for her winning application answers to questions about what it means to be a good citizen. Braxton, who was an active volunteer in the community and a member of the MHS chorus and jazz band, also served as the drum major for the Blue Devil marching band. She will attend Longwood University in the fall to study music education.
