May 7 open house for new Mathews veterinary office

An open house for Animal Care of Mathews will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, during May Faire.

Located near M&M Building Supply in the building that previously housed the Thrifty Spot, the new veterinary practice is slated for a soft opening shortly afterward.

“We’re shooting to open May 9,” said Lindsey Owsley, practice manager for the business. “We’re so excited to finally get going.”

An offshoot of Animal Care of Gloucester, the Mathews practice will initially share staff with that location. Dr. Danielle Verderame, owner and Mathews resident, and Drs. Weston Betts and Christina Long will cycle through on specific days, along with veterinary assistants, technicians, and receptionists. As practice manager, Owsley, who lives in Susan, will be on-site every day.

Animal Care of Mathews will have visits by appointment only. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
