MAXINE LUCILLE CHURCHIN

Maxine Lucille Churchin, 72, of Hayes, died Feb. 14, 2016 at Heron Cove Sanders Care Facility. 

Maxine was a Junior High School teacher, where she made lifelong relationships with teachers and students. She was named “Teacher of the Year.”

Her interests and hobbies included being an avid reader, knitting, scrapbooking and traveling.  She was a good and kind person, and volunteered her time with helping the homeless. She started a blanket ministry, called Loving Hands, making and delivering over 400 blankets to the sick, high school graduates and babies. Maxine taught all of us what it means to be loving and caring and how to overcome any adversity with a smile. She will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by parents, Roy and Mae Kennedy, and a brother, Howard E. Griffith.

She is survived by her sisters, Hazel Williamson and husband Bill, and Darlene Bauschatz and husband Roy, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service conducted by the Rev. Deborah T. Marion will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1860 Hayes Road. Inurnment will be at a later date in Ohio.
