MAXINE GIBBS SLONE

Maxine Gibbs Slone of Achilles, Va., died Dec. 18, 2011 at Gloucester House in Gloucester, following a long illness.

Mrs. Slone was born Jan. 8, 1926, in Ashland, Ky. She received a bachelor’s degree in accounting at Eastern Kentucky State University. Mrs. Slone retired as an internal auditor from Colonial Williamsburg in 1981. She briefly sold real estate for Belvin’s Realty. In retirement she became a Master Gardener, volunteering her gardening skills at Riverside Convalescent Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. Slone; her parents, Lonus and Erma Gibbs; brothers, Lonus E. Gibbs Jr., Eugene D. Gibbs, and Daniel R. Gibbs, and a sister, Wilda Gibbs.

Survivors include her sister, Kay Gibbs Bradley and brother-in-law Bob of Gloucester; nephew, Robert Bradley Jr. of Newport News; niece, Victoria Bradley Black of Richmond, and three grand-nephews.

Services will be private.
