Maurice Edward Motley Sr., age 81, of Hayes, died peacefully Dec. 23, 2018 surrounded by his family. 

Maurice owned and operated Superior Water Treatment more than 50 years. He was a lifelong member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge Number 886, Gloucester, an avid golfer and exceptional wood designer.

Parents Samuel W. and Clincie Johnson Motley; siblings, E.W. Motley Sr., Sammy “Red” Motley, Eugene Motley, Kyle Motley and Frances Yeatts preceded him in death.

He is survived by his true soul mate, Sylvia; three sons, M.E. “Butch” Motley Jr. (Marybeth), Gary S. Motley, Sr. (Anne Marie), Jeffrey D. Motley (Renae); seven grandchildren, Scotty, Paige, Max, Natalie, Emily, Andrew, Rachel; three great-grandchildren, Karleigh, Melanie, Oakleigh; two sisters, Marian Greene (Robert Lee) and Beatrice Stanfield.  

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, in Providence Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, from 6-7 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
