Mathews wrestlers crowned Conference champs

The Mathews High School wrestling team swept all its matches last Wednesday to claim the Conference 42 title at the conference tournament at Cumberland High School.
Mathews wrestlers won every match in the tournament, scoring a large number of pins.
Against Middlesex, the Blue Devils won 42-36. Winners for Mathews included Caleb Sadler (120 lbs., major decision victory over Jack Ruark), Caleb Johnson (132 lbs., pinned Elijah Fomin), Parker Thompson (136 lbs., pinned Manny Fernandez), Michael-Dion Davis-Ruskovitz (152 lbs., pinned Dylan Wells), Mason Fiscella (170 lbs., pinned Andres Rowe), Joseph Hall (182 lbs., pinned Jordan Blake) and Hunter Scales (285 lbs., tech fall victory over Hunter Cary).
Mathews won by a larger margin against Cumberland (51-24) and King and Queen (48-12). Picking up wins for Mathews in the Cumberland match were Sadler (decision), Chad Beattie (126 lbs., pin), Johnson (pin), Davis-Ruskovitz (pin), Fiscella (pin), Hall (pin) and Scales (pin).
