Mathews Woman’s Club holds student art show

 

The Mathews County Woman’s Club held its annual Student Art Show on Sunday at the clubhouse.

Winner of the Woman’s Club Best in Show award was a puppet by Mathews High School senior Matt Gayle.

Woman’s Club awards were given to Lee-Jackson student Kate Mew for her tempera painting; Thomas Hunter Middle School student Tyler Riley for his block printing; and Mathews High School student Amanda Pugh for her foil composition.

Mathews High School Monster Sculpture winners were: Blue—Abbie Sorey; Red—Richard LaPointe; and Yellow—Virginia Scatchard.

Judges were Stephanie Ruff, owner of Morning Glory Gallery at Ware Neck, and Harriet Galbraith, club member. Jack Galbraith judged the photography entries.
