The Mathews County Wetlands Board, meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 7 in the historic courthouse, unanimously approved a pair of requests for shoreline improvements following public hearings on the matter.
The first hearing was for Richard Elder, who had requested permission to install 157-feet of Flexamat berm on his property on Whites Creek. Oyster bags and oyster reefs will be placed along the marsh toe as needed, according to his plan.
The second public hearing was for the request from Kim and Nick Wuckovich. They sought to install 60 feet of Flexamat with vegetation. A living shoreline of clean sand and plants will also be installed. There will also be a class 2 revetment over an existing deteriorating bulkhead. This project is located along the North River.
