Mathews to hold parade Saturday; White to be grand marshal

It’s another weekend coming up full of holiday activities for all ages, with the hallmark event being the Mathews Annual Christmas Parade on Saturday. It will step off at 1 p.m. from Thomas Hunter Middle School and will continue to the Bank of America building.

During the parade, Mathews Cub Scout Pack 124 will hold its Annual Christmas Food Drive. To donate, visitors to the parade are asked to have non-perishable food items in grocery bags in front of them during the parade so scouts can collect them.

Grand marshal

The theme of this year’s parade is “Tales of Christmas.” 

Mathews native Rosalyn White has been named grand marshal of the parade, according to Lynda Smith Greve, spokesperson for the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center. 

White and her late husband, Jeff, have given generously of their time, money and talents to what seems like every facet of Mathews County over the years, Greve said.
