Mathews to begin spring clean week Saturday

The Mathews County Visitor & Information Center is expanding its annual spring clean-up week to span a full week, beginning this Saturday and lasting until April 25 to allow residents, community groups and other organizations greater flexibility in participation of this year’s event. Participants are encouraged to select a roadside or area of their choice to remove litter at any time during the week. No advanced registration is required. Clean-up supplies, including safety vests, trash bags and litter grabbers, will be available for pick-up at MCVIC, located on Main Street, on Friday from noon until 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon. Participants will be asked to provide a contact email when picking up supplies. Following the event, MCVIC will reach out to gather clean-up results and community impact data.
