Mathews switches to daylight Christmas parade

The Mathews Christmas Parade will be held in daylight hours this year, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, according to an announcement from organizers.

A new committee is taking over from Mary Ewell and Christy Walker, who have organized the parade as an evening lighted event for the past several years.

The theme will be "An Old Fashioned Mathews Christmas." Seasonal music aboard floats is encouraged, the organizers said. The parade will start at Thomas Hunter Middle School and end at Bank of America.

Signup forms are available at the Mathews County Visitor Center or Mathews Memorial Library.

For more information, contact members of the newly-formed Citizens’ Committee Mathews Christmas Parade, as follows: JoAnn Mulvany, 725-7984, e-mail jamulvany@hotmail.com, Brenda Baker or Art Miller.
