Mathews students, club members win art awards

The Mathews County Woman’s Show held its annual student and member arts and crafts show on April 19. Spokesperson Christine Johnson said the artwork was very colorful.

Best-in-show ribbons were awarded to Promise Parlett (Lee-Jackson Elementary), Madelyn Polson (Thomas Hunter Middle) and Logan Grover (Mathews High School). Jonathan McCann was the People’s Choice Award winner for his watercolor.

Third grade, Colored Drawing: blue, Tripp Walker; red, Zoe Camp; yellow, Coleman Pritchett. Fourth grade, Mixed Media: blue, Amanda Satterly; red, Charisma Cullison and Chasity Jenkins; yellow, Dawson Adams.
