The Mathews County School Board thanked the contributions of student representative Suki Zheng as the board’s May 20 meeting at the Brooks Auditorium at Thomas Hunter Middle School.
Zheng, a Mathews High School senior set to graduate on Saturday, served for the 2024-2025 school year as the board’s student representative. In addition to providing the school board with updates each month on all three county schools, Zheng was also active at the state level and served as a liaison on several issues affecting the student body.
“Thank you for taking this so seriously and engaging at the state level,” school board vice chair Linda Hodges said in thanking Zheng for her work. She handed the student a copy of the Virginia School Boards Association quarterly review magazine where Zheng and some of the other student representatives from across the state who met with VSBA officials at the annual conference were featured.
