Members of the community will be volunteering their time Saturday to clean up Mathews County in advance of the Tour de Chesapeake on the following weekend and the vintage car show June 1.

Orange trash bags and vests can be picked up at the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center Saturday morning and coffee and doughnuts will be available as early as 8 a.m.

"In preparation for the Tour de Chesapeake and the vintage car show, please join your fellow Mathews citizens in cleaning our roadways and ditches," said MCVIC executive director Ann Miller.

Those who are Adopt-A-Highway volunteers are asked to contact their VDOT representative to let them know how many bags are collected.

All other collectors are asked to call MCVIC at 725-4229 about how many bags they collected.
