The Mathews County Sheriff’s Office is searching for Stanley Eugene Dixon Jr., a 45-year-old Hudgins resident who allegedly fled the scene of an accident on March 1.

A deputy on routine patrol attempted to stop a vehicle that Dixon, a known habitual offender, was driving on Tuesday, according to a report by Major J.T. Williams. Dixon refused to stop for the deputy, said Williams, and after a short vehicle pursuit, the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed. He then fled the scene on foot.

Warrants that were obtained for Dixon were still pending Tuesday afternoon.
