Mathews school employees honored

Mathews County Public Schools awarded pins and plaques for years of service, and recognized retiring teachers and other employees at an end-of-year program last Wednesday at Mathews High School.

Retirement plaques were handed out to Joy Drummond (37 years) and Barbara van Emmerik (who also received a pin for 20 years’ service). At its May meeting, the Mathews County School Board had recognized Pat Moughon (31 years) and Eli Hyman (four years) on their retirements.

Aside from van Emmerik, others receiving pins for years of service were: 10 years—Judy Emanuel and Julia Forrest; 15 years—Shirley Abrams, Donna Crockett, Mark Tomcany and Cindy Machen; 20 years—Mindy Brown; and 25 years—Sharon Morgan, Tammy Henry, Delo Bloomfield, Laurel Byrd and James Hutcheson.

Pins and plaques were awarded for 30 years’ service to Edith Turner and Crystal Coleman and, for 35 years, to Barbara Callis.
