Mathews Rotary Club holds its first online meeting

County supervisors, school boards and other governmental bodies aren’t the only ones confronted with unique challenges of getting together to handle business in the midst of this current pandemic.

The Mathews County Rotary Club board held its first virtual meeting on the Zoom platform last Thursday.

On the call were president Bill Stearns, president elect Karl Braun treasurer Jack White, sergeant at arms Brian Russell, secretary Lori Black, Tim Hill of the Community Action Committee, Dee Russell of the PR committee and member at large Jay Black.

The group discussed a number of topics, but the key topics were the civic organization’s 2020-2021 budget; how the Mathews Rotary can support the community while in the current lockdown situation; creative ways of keeping in touch with club membership; a review of community programs the club has been asked to support, and the Rotary’s potential next event, Braun said.
