Mathews Resources Council meets April 19

Three speakers are scheduled to appear next Thursday, April 19, when the Mathews County Resources Council meets at 9:15 a.m. at Mathews Memorial Library.

Emily Allen, executive director of the Mathews County Visitor Center, will discuss her goals for the center and her efforts to make the center a focus of businesses as well as area visitors, a release said.

A. Conrad Bareford III, a practicing attorney whose office is located in Mathews Court House, will represent the Middle Peninsula Bar Association, to discuss that group’s local philanthropic endeavors.

Anita Minuth of the Court House Players will talk about the group’s efforts to support May Faire on Saturday, May 5, and also its preparation to present this summer “Crickets on a Hill,” a musical written in 1976 by the late Judy Ward.

MCRC chair Rhoda-Jo Stress said her group will also highlight the many hours of volunteer service organization participants complete in a week, month and throughout the year...
