Mathews residents have until Monday to make reassessment appointment

Mathews residents who question their reassessments have until Monday to make an appointment with the board of equalization.

The board, which is composed of Mathews County residents, provides property owners a second opportunity to have their assessments reviewed for errors and possibly changed if a mistake has been made. The first opportunity was for residents to talk with the assessor. The third and final step will be to challenge the assessment in circuit court.

Dates and times currently available for appointment are: Tuesday, Feb. 1, 5-8 p.m.; Wednesday, Feb. 9, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 11, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Tuesday, Feb. 15, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursday, Feb. 17, 6–9 p.m.; Thursday, Feb. 24, noon to 4 p.m. and 5–8 p.m.; and Friday, Feb. 25, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
