Mathews resident offers ‘The Letter’ free to the public

A letter to Santa Claus from a little girl whose father can’t be home for Christmas is the subject of “The Letter,” a CD produced by Mathews resident Terry Black. It is available free of charge on YouTube.

With a rendition of “Silent Night” by Mannheim Steamroller as the background music, Little Cindy Brown tells Santa Claus that the only thing she wants for Christmas is for her daddy to be home. While he may not be able to grant every wish, Santa Claus can still make miracles happen, and he does the next best thing for the little girl.

Black said he wrote the piece about five years ago and waited until he had the right voices to record it. Then, a couple of years ago, he heard local chiropractor Layton Merithew at a Court House Players performance of Shakespeare scenes titled “Bits from the Bard,” and he knew he had found the voice of Santa.
