The Mathews Museum, located at 200 Main Street, will be open weekdays during the holidays whenever work on exhibits is underway. A sign outside will indicate whether the museum is open for visitors. Its regular hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
On Friday, Dec. 12, the museum will remain open until 7 p.m., with carolers on hand from 6-6:30 p.m. to lead everyone in singing old time Christmas carols. Charlene Moore, organist at Mathews Baptist Church, will provide accompaniment on the museum’s recently restored 1891 A.B. Chase pump organ.
Additionally, a mailbox for Santa Claus is installed at the museum, along with blank note cards and envelopes in an adjacent container to help Christmas wishes get to the North Pole in time. No stamp is required....
