Mathews Museum slated for reconstruction

The Mathews Museum at 200 Main Street is slated for a significant reconstruction and internal rearrangement and will be closed for the months of July and August, president Tom Robinson has announced.
Reopening is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 5, in time to host the county’s Mathews Market Days visitors. The museum celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025, and during the past decade the museum has acquired several major collections which will now be expanded to include a cross section of larger pieces requiring additional space in a different configuration, Robinson said.
