Mathews Market Days organizers excited about festival’s return

After pandemic cancellations for the past two years, Mathews Market Days is returning with a bang this September, stepping up its game to offer a pre-festival display of poster contest entries, a poster reveal and signing event, new additions to the children’s area, and live music by local and regional bands.

The two-day festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9 and 10.

According to a release from festival organizer Morgan Hudgins, the 11 entries in the “Rise with the Tide” poster contest will be on display for the public to view ahead of time, having begun on Tuesday and running through Friday, Aug. 26, at the Bay School Community Arts Center on Main Street. Anyone of age had been invited to enter artwork in any medium in the contest. The only requirement was that the work display “how we will continue to rise together as a community after an uncertain time through Covid, just as the tide rises each day.”
